  • Represented property owners to obtain reversal of ruling in favor of purchasers of neighboring property who moved in, tore down existing fence, and erected a new fence to claim property that had belonged to appellants for over 20 years.
  • Represented companies contesting scope of a charging order on appeal that restricted the companies’ activities and ordered them to turn over financial records; Oregon Supreme Court reversed trial court order in a lengthy decision interpreting Oregon’s LLC Act and Limited Partnership Act on an issue of first impression.
  • Represented and briefed issues for student loan appeal at various points of proceedings through two appeals from bankruptcy court to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, resulting in key victory for student loan debtors.
  • Briefed issues regarding immunity of state agency in bankruptcy court proceeding involving preference recovery by a Chapter 7 trustee.
  • Obtained temporary stay of order terminating leases in business case involving Portland entertainment venue to allow appeal to the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
  • Represented law firm in appeal to the US District Court and then to the Ninth Circuit regarding order directing disgorgement of attorney’s fees and termination of representation.
  • Negotiated settlement of multi-party case while on appeal regarding efficacy of dissolution orders, effect of non-payment of debts by ex-spouse, and legal malpractice claims.
  • Obtained agreement regarding conditions of stay of Chapter 13 confirmation order during appeal of judgment against debtor for non-dischargeability of personal debt.
  • Handled protracted proceedings regarding appeal of order of the University of Oregon in a student conduct case.
